Hello!
Thank you for connecting. Let’s create a vision and reach new heights.

Grand Junction Photographer

Tyler Payne

I'm Tyler, I create and document for people and brands that thrive in the outdoors. A camera stays with me through hard climbs, miles of backcountry, and occasionally under some rapids. The goal is always the same: images crafted to create connection and feeling, not just coverage.

I've been doing this for ten years, and most of it has happened in the field rather than a studio. It started at Colorado Mesa University, where I connected with the Outdoor Program early in my first year. First documenting trips, then eventually leading students into some genuinely wild places. Those years shaped how I work: reading terrain, analyzing risk, anticipating moments, and being part of the experience rather than standing outside it.

That's still the approach. I shoot the way I move through these places, light on my feet, paying attention, adding direction where it's needed, and letting the good times flow.

Based in Grand Junction, Colorado, you'll most often find me in the mountains of Colorado or the deserts of Utah on assignment, working on my own projects, or just taking in the moment.

If you want to see what that looks like in practice, here's a look at the work → Gallery
